What is an implant?
Implants are titanium screws used in the treatment of missing teeth and placed in the jawbone. The prosthesis is placed on these screws. The advantage of implant treatment over other treatment methods is that it does not damage the adjacent teeth. Therefore, there is no need to cut adjacent teeth. The implant works like a tooth root and you can eat, talk and smile like a natural tooth. Dental implant surgery also includes the surgical process of replacing tooth roots with metal, screw-like posts and replacing damaged or missing teeth with artificial teeth that look and function like natural teeth. A dental implant can be a welcome alternative to unsuitable dentures or bridges and is therefore better than traditional bridges. We offer all dental services in our Bahçelievler Dental Clinic.
How is the implant treatment?
Implant treatment is performed with a mild sedative treatment for the patient. A detailed examination and x-ray are required before the procedure. Impressions of the jaws and remaining teeth are taken. There are two options for placing dental implants. In a one-step procedure, a temporary valve is attached after the implant is placed. After the dental implant is placed in a two-stage process, it is closed with the gum and left to heal. Then the prosthetic head is attached. In both cases, a temporary bridge is placed and the recovery period is expected to be 3 months for the lower jaw and six months for the upper jaw. Sometimes newly made teeth can be placed on dental implants immediately. Dental implants allow the patient to laugh and eat with confidence.
Zirconium implants are new generation implants made to increase the durability of titanium implants. It is used to increase resistance especially in narrow jaws. Except for durability, it is no different from titanium.
Zirconium is also used in dental veneers. Zirconium is white like natural teeth and reflects light. Therefore, it benefits both aesthetics and durability. It does not corrode and does not leave a metallic taste in the mouth. There is no color change over time. There is no harm to the body.
